Public Informational Meeting

April 22, 2009 from 6:30 - 8:30 PM at Seymour Center, UCSC Long Marine Lab, Santa Cruz Representatives from the City of Santa Cruz, Soquel Creek Water District and CDM (Project Engineers) will make presentations on local water issues and present preliminary findings of the Desalination Pilot Plant Project. There will also be an opportunity for Q/A with the panel.

Presenters

Heidi Luckenbach, P.E., City of Santa Cruz. As the Desalination Program Coordinator, Heidi is responsible for overseeing the various studies related to the potential 2.5 MGD desalination plant that the City of Santa Cruz and Soquel Creek Water District is evaluating as a supplemental supply source. Heidi has worked for the City of Santa Cruz for almost 10 years and previously worked in Phoenix, Arizona, Illinois, and Southern California.

Todd Reynolds, P.E., Kennedy/Jenks Consultants. Todd is an environmental engineer specializing in membrane treatment processes including microfiltration, ultrafiltration, and seawater and brackish water desalination with nanofiltration, reverse osmosis, and electrodialysis membrane systems. Todd currently acts as Technical Advisor for scwd2 Desalination Program and previously worked as the Project Engineer/Operator for the Marin Municipal Water District’s Desalination Pilot Study from 2005-2007.

Erik Desormeaux, P.E., CDM. Erik is an environmental engineer with experience in brackish and seawater desalination, wastewater reclamation, and conventional water treatment. His experience includes design and implementation of reverse osmosis pilot plant studies and design, optimization, and regulatory compliance for full-scale water treatment plants. Erik previously worked for the Alameda County Water District as the project engineer for a Brackish Water Desalination Optimization Pilot Study and currently is the lead operator/engineer at the scwd2 Seawater Reverse Osmosis Desalination Pilot Plant in Santa Cruz for CDM.
