Let UCSC pay for desal

I have gradually become a supporter of privitization of the UC system -- the only response I can see to the growth of the arrogant elitist attitude that university administrators show toward the communities their campuses are in. In Santa Cruz, we are concerned about our water supply, housing prices and availability, traffic, etc. Yet UCSC administrators seem to believe it is their state-granted right to grow this campus without concern for these issues. Why not let them operate as any other business and follow established processes for growth. The pending expansion of the water district to enable UCSC growth has created a large swell of support for a desalination plant with its questionable environmental footprint. If UCSC is driving this demand for water, then let them pay for it.
