Don't hold residents at gunpoint, UCSC

Once again UCSC is resorting to threats to ensure that locals have no say in their expansion. As long as we kowtow to whatever growth plan UCSC concocts, they say, we can avoid costly lawsuits. How many lawyers can one hire for the cost of a $100 million desalination plant? As far as I can discern, UCSC is not contributing one dime to the cost of that plant. Chancellor George Blumenthal needs to work with city residents to achieve true cooperation and win-win solutions, not the cooperation obtained from holding Santa Cruz residents at gunpoint.
