Desal environmental report released for Santa Cruz, Soquel Creek

SANTA CRUZ - The long-awaited environmental impact report for a proposed seawater desalination plant was released this morning.

The lengthy report can be read online or at Santa Cruz City Hall and the Soquel Creek Water District, the city's partner in building the facility.

Environmental analysis is required under the California Environmental Quality Act. The report will include information about alternatives to the water supply project and impacts on the environment. The public will have 60 days to comment in writing on the document and in person at public hearings June 3 and July 1.
